US House of Representatives passes Ukraine aid bill.

On Saturday, the US House of Representatives passed a bill providing more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine. With this, Ukraine, which is suffering from a lack of weapons in the war with Russia, is relieved.

A clear majority of the House had long been ready to aid Ukraine. However, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, was blocking this aid.

On Saturday, Johnson finally put his position at stake and presented the bill to the House for decision. The bill was passed with the support of Democrats, despite most Republican lawmakers voting against it.

U.S. aid to Ukraine will resume after it passes the Democratic-majority Senate and is signed by President Joe Biden.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked both parties and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson personally as the bill passed. Russia, on the other hand, says it will cause more destruction and more people to die in the conflict.
